2132.312 – THE RECKONING – NIGHT 2

Backstage/Ringside: Nitro
The arena is packed for night 2 of THE RECKONING! Tonight COMMISSIONER SLY DRURY will have to defend his INTERPLANETARY CHAMPIONSHIP and there is wide speculation that he will pull some underhanded tactics to make sure he walks out tonight with the title.
There is a sudden fanfare of western-style orchestra music fills the arena.
COMMISSIONER and INTERPLANETARY CHAMPION SLY DRURY appears on horseback. FHANNA is ridding behind him, arms around his waist. The CROWD boos loudly, trying to drown out the music. DRURY has a wry smile as he rides down to the ring and once around it. He hops down off the horse and then helps FHANNA down. She gives him a quick kiss on the cheek and he crosses over to join TRENT LAWLESS at commentary.
TRENT LAWLESS: To what do we owe the…ahem…honor of your presence?
SLY DRURY: Tonight is my night, why wouldn’t I be here? And, your sarcastic tone is not lost on me Lawless! Watch your step, you’re replaceable you know. I could get Mot and Kram back here in a heartbeat!
TRENT LAWLESS: Who?
SLY DRURY: Never mind! Call the matches!
The ANNOUNCER reminds the CROWD that this is a RANKING GAUNTLET™ and that each match is contested under TITAN DEATH RULES.
FALLER is out first with LORD NEXUS. They climb up into the ring. OVERTIME is announced next and his music plays but he doesn’t appear. NITRO runs over to LORD NEXUS at ringside.
NITRO: Nexus, where’s you’re man?
LORD NEXUS: We haven’t seen him since he walked out with PERFECT SPECIMEN’S trophy back at INFERNO. I was hoping he’d be here tonight so we could hash things out.
DRURY (standing at the announce table): Ref! Ring the bell, count him out! I tire of this.
The ref calls for the bell.
TITAN DEATH RULES MATCH
Faller (5) d. Overtime (-) via countout when Overtime no shows – DUD – The big question now is, ‘Where is Overtime?’ That will hopefully be answered at some point. In the meantime, FALLER picks up an easy win and advances.
TRENT LAWLESS: What do you make of this Overtime situation?
SLY DRURY: No big loss. The GWF spent a ton of money on him and he’s been a weak investment. If I have to cut him from the roster, no one will lose any sleep.
The lights go out and the glowing blue orb of ORACLE begins making its way to the ring. When they come back on BALAAL is standing in the ring across from FALLER and it looks like this will be our first match of the night.
TITAN DEATH RULES MATCH
Balaal (2) d. Faller (8) via pinfall after Venom Spit – ** – The FTR rookie fought well but couldn’t overcome the offense of the more veteran BALAAL. BALAAL stands in the ring ready for his next opponent.
SLY DRURY: The snake looked good, but he’s got a long way to go before he gets into the ring with me.
Suddenly, the mysterious hooded figure arrives and lifts his hands in the air. A column of flames appears in the ring and BALAAL begins excitedly hopping back and forth from foot to foot. The flames disappear and BURNING MAN is standing there. The CROWD cheers loudly as this will be a direct rematch from the feud these two capped off at INFERNO. The ref calls for the bell.
TITAN DEATH RULES MATCH
Balaal (2) d. Burning Man (8) via pinfall with BITE OF THE SERPENT – **1/2 – BURNING MAN brought the fight we’d seen from him at INFRNO, but this time was outclassed by BALAAL. After the bell both BURNING MAN and the mysterious hooded figure disappeared.
TRENT LAWLESS: Another win for Balaal!
SLY DRURY: You’re real good at stating the obvious Lawless, but he’s slowing down a little.
The arena is on their feet as PANTHER WARRIOR heads to the ring with CATFIGHT.
TRENT LAWLESS: Any update on Catfight’s tiger Maggie?
SLY DRURY: Who do I look like? Marlin Perkins?
TRENT LAWLESS: Who?
SLY DRURY: Neve mind. Just call the matches!
The ref calls of the bell the moment PANTHER WARRIOR is in the ring and we are off.
TITAN DEATH RULES MATCH
Balaal (5) d. Panther Warrior (5) via pinfall after BITE OF THE SERPENT – **1/2 – BALAAL looks totally dominant in this match and he gets a big win here over PANTHER WARRIOR. The CROWD is not happy, but BALAAL doesn’t care. He doesn’t look that winded, even after that heck of a match.
SLY DRURY: Balaal is wrestling smart here tonight, but I don’t think it’s gonna last much longer.
Suddenly wild drums begin beating and PAGANAX appears waving his flaming sword above his head. EURITAR is with him as he charges down to the ring for our next match.
TITAN DEATH RULES MATCH
Paganax (5) d. Balaal via pinfall with ASCENT OF THE KING – *** – PAGANAX gets the win but just barely! The end came when ORACLE suddenly sprung to life and charged into the ring to break up a pin count. PAGANAX clobbered him and then hit BALAAL with ASCENT OF THE KING for the win.
TRENT LAWLESS: Paganax is now on the winner’s track.
SLY DRURY: Yeah, but look how much the snake took out of him. And he’s holding his ribs. He’ll never make it to me. Bring out the next opponent!
The AETHRAN WAR ANTHEM begins to play as TURMOIL heads to the ring with THE LEVELER.
TITAN DEATH RULES MATCH
Turmoil (5) d. Paganax (10) via pinfall with TRIPLE SUICIDE – ***** – PAGANAX held on there for a long time, but the damage BALAAL had done in the previous match was just too much. TURMOIL advances.
TRENT LAWLESS: Could it be you and Turmoil in the Main Event?
SLY DRURY: He’s tough, but I’m tougher.
TRENT LAWLESS: If I didn’t know any better, I’d say there’s a bit of a waver in your voice, Drury.
SLY DRURY: Turmoil still has one more match to go and I’m sure whomever is next will wear him down a bit.
A militaristic march begins to play as ORACLE leads DISCIPLE OF TERROR to the ring.
TRENT LAWLESS: Ha! This is the guy you’re hoping wears down Turmoil? The rookie from FTR? I’ll give you he’s been impressive since he’s arrived but this is Turmoil we’re talking about.
SLY DRURY: Stop talking Lawless, I need to watch this match.
TRENT LAWLESS: But talking is what I’m paid to do.
SLY DRURY: Well, talk at someone else!
DISCIPLE OF TERROR shows no fear as he steps into the ring against TURMOIL! The ref calls for the bell!
TITAN DEATH RULES MATCH
Turmoil (8) d. Disciple of Terror (11) via pinfall after INTIMIDATION – ***** – What a match! This was a career making match for DISCIPLE OF TERROR, for sure! He didn’t get the win but he hung in there until he was a bloody mess, kicking out of everything TURMOIL was throwing at him! And he did some serious damage to TURMOIL as well.
Before TURMOIL can even catch his breath, DRURY slides into the ring and tells the ref to ring the bell!
